Google may be doing the rounds again…
It’s been said through the grapevine that Google may be doing the rounds again. What do I mean by ‘doing the rounds’? - updating page rank (or PR)…
What good is PR? I guess for some people who like to sell links on their websites etc, it does give other sites a better chance of getting a higher PR. A bit like a vicious circle - if you have high PR you can give some of it to another site, give too much of it away and you will lose PR. Googles way of stopping or penalising link farms?
Link farms - If you have a page with tons of links on it - linking out to other sites - this is considered a link farm. Are they bad? I would say not, however, Google may think differently.
Let’s go back to the selling of links. If you want to sell a link on your blog, website, forum etc - the yard stick it is measured by is Google Page Rank (PR). The higher the rank, the more valuable the link.
I don’t aim on getting higher pagerank, I just do what I do and if I get a boost - I feel happy. I especially love it when my own personal blog gets a quick bit of recognition. CarpetDog 
Why? I have no idea.
Links or stumbles or backlinks all help with pagerank - they also help by driving traffic to your site.
